i'm thinking of getting another fish when i get back home...as some of you know, i had one last year named Nuku Nuku. sadly, he died in a rather horrible accident :(
ok i know this is probably getting out of hand, but what else do you expect me to do with no life? lol
This is The Guilty Game. Next to the questions, put your answers as either guilty or innocent. Guilty if you have, innocent if you haven't. The number of guilties you have, is the number of years in prison you are sentenced to. Re-post with a headline stating how many years in prison you have....
i am considering going back to a xanga...
not that i don't adore LJ, because i do...but i dunno...lol i guess it's just my need for spontaneous change...the way i will randomly move my bed some days...
plus, no one writes in their LJ much except me and falina!! that's right, feel ashamed...we are LJ queens...
if LJ had a prom, we'd win.
that was random.
but anyway...i miss the xanga days ^^;
sorry, i still really don't feel like posting photos and writing about boston ^^ LOL...
yes, i am in boston. yes, i have pictures. yes, i could tell you everything that's happened so far.
i'm sorry i don't look like the perfect indian daughter. i'm sorry i'm not waif-thin, and that my legs are short and stubby, and completely useless for dancing, or for showing off from under a miniskirt. i'm sorry that they are strong and are made for climbing endless stairs and propelling myself across water instead. i'm sorry that i have a chest. it doesn't always fit into everything, but it shows that i don't need to put it on public display, or let it climb over the neckline of my shirt to say that i am proud of it, and that it is beautiful. i'm sorry my arms are not perfectly toned- i'm working on it. however, they will never be tree branches- they will always be powerful enough to protect those i love. i'm sorry my shoulders and collarbones don't peek out from under my skin. instead, they are broad from lap after lap in the pool, and used to scare the shit out of my competitors. i'm sorry that i don't have a bellydancer tummy. it is flabby, and a far cry from a six pack, but it's in progress, and i can't beat it up specifically if i myself am a work in progress. it just wouldn't be fair. at the gym, it tries just as hard as i do, and still takes it for the team the next morning.
i'm sorry that my eating habits and exercise isn't working fast enough for you. i'm only doing as much as i can without compensating the more important things. i'm sorry that my body functions normally, unlike those anorexic/bulimic girls, and is taking its time to lose weight and build muscle. i'm sorry that every morsel that touches my tongue is, 9 times out of 10, not a slimfast bar, but an apple slice, or a cheese stick. come on, i'm not even secretely eating the cadbury chocolate bars, or the cookies, or the pie, or the candy that you love so much, i've left it alone for those who can talk, but not act on what they preach.
all in all, i'm sorry that i'm not the trophy daughter you wish i could be. i'm sorry that i care just a little more about this upcoming internship, about my health course, and about summer school class, all of which concern my future, just a little bit more than the part of my future that involves attracting a mate. remember? it's what separates us from every other animal- that extra thought and ambition? really mother, i'm only being human.
and if you could see what's come over me,
then you would know.
'cause i'm walking free,
the wind at my back,
bathed in afterglow.
so lately there's been a million things going on- most of the wonderful, and even the ones that aren't are tolerable :)
started listening to vanessa carlton's harmonium album again...it's been a while. i love that album- all those songs are fantastic...they make you reflect and think. i highly recommend it to anyone. good for long afternoons and evenings when you're not doing much.
i've been thinking of doing some art/writing soon...i don't know...i used to be able to write almost anytime, and it'd be decent at least. i can't seem to do that anymore...i have even noticed that when i write anything, it sound very analytical and...i don't know. it's weird, because i'm not that kind of a person...i just think all this medicine work is rubbing off on me. i'd sure like to have my old creativity again. i want to write a song! well, lyrics anyway...i don't know about music...
submitted my paper to cerebrum journal yesterday....i really hope it gets published. that would be cool :) exposure!
reeeeallly looking forward to boston and cambridge in the coming month. the more i read about cambridge, the more i think it may be one of my perfect cities. but don't worry, san francisco will always be #1.
i'm going to go get a haircut now!! i'm getting a trim and layers, so we'll see how that works out...

well, here goes. i get to list MY 6 strange habits...
1. like a lot of people, i clean my room when i'm stressed out. however, i will also reorganize my binder or wallet, rearrange furniture, reorganize the shampoos/body washes in my shower, and clean my fingernails obsessively. :) i don't think that one's TOO strange though...
2. when i use a mechanical pencil, it's got to have ample eraser on it. if it's down to the nub where the eraser is flat, i refuse to use it.
3. if my cat has anything stuck to his/her whiskers, i will chase them down until they surrender and let me remove it for them.
4. i obsessively poke and prod and strive to conceal a tiny puffy bumb on my cheek that no one notices except me. watch, you'll all notice it NOW though lol
5. my feet HAVE TO BE CLEAN before i go to sleep...
6. (this one's not that weird either) for standardized tests, where you have to bubble answers, i CAN'T STAND it when i mark even a leeeeetle bit outside the line.
okay so i'm OCD.
now, i tag danica and nina...although both of them hardly ever post >(
**EDIT: actually i have another one: whenever AOL says "goodbye" when you sign off, i say goodbye to it back.
so, it happened- the thing my parents were waiting for. i got in my first car accident!
yeah okay i don't want to go into the whole story, but i was hit, and my left passenger door and window is completely shattered...
i'm not hurt, thankfully, though the airbag hit my jaw and it kind of aches now...
i'm still in shock- it was easily one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me. i was hit, lost control and spun over to the other side of the road. i didn't even remember anything until some guy asked if i was okay. thankfully, the other party was not hurt either.
i don't even care if i don't get to drive for a while though, i really don't, because it was so scary and even if my car wasn't damaged, i still woudn't want to...it really scared the life out of me...i was SO lucky- if i had been a foot farther back when i made my turn, my door (and me) would have easily been hit.
...something up there loves me.
EDIT: but i'm so happy right now that what happened just can't bring me down :)
marianne nyman left a comment on my deviantart page!!!! she's only, like, the best photogrpaher on DA- i'm so happy she actually saw me as worthy enough to pay a visit to...:) now if only jisuk cho would drop me a line...i could collect famous deviant comments! then again he seems like a real jerk so...maybe not...
i feel so special ^^
i wonder if the leaning tower of pisa ever felt like all it was ever good for was for gravity experiments...that nobody does anymore.
i like making these kind of things- they are more creative than just blocks of text :)
so i was making some engrish for fun with babelfish. so i typed this classic quote from this shirt:
i spilled some milk...oh my God!
and then i hit english to japanese. i got this: 私はミルク... オハイオ州を私の神こぼした!
so i copied and pasted that into 'japanese to english', and what did it give me?
I the milk...my God dropped Ohio state!!
LMAO that's the best engrish i have ever made
...i am copyrighting that phrase
thought i'd share with you some snapshots from my trip :)
PART 1- ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
the city views outside my cousins' apartment in abu dhabi
the actual apartment...we live on the 9th floor :)
the street just outside...just from looking at the photo, you'd think it was any other american city lol
see, you all have just heard of hookah bars. but i have been to one, and actually smoked one :) i'm not just posing for the photo lol
and this is the summer home we bought there. just kidding. this is the palace hotel...only sheikhs and big-shots stay there though :( the dome changes color!!! i caught it at blue...
this is inside Ibn Battuta mall...it's this bigass mall where every section is a theme from a diff part of the world. this is supposed to be jerusalem.
this is another section of the mall...the china section :) look at the bigass boat...it tickles the ceiling!
that's my sister and aunt goofing off at the bottom.
the tall sail-shaped building in the background is the Burj al Arib- the world's only seven star hotel...just to go in costs like $100 or something close to that...what you're seeing is only the top part...there's another half underwater, where you can have an underwater room! =-o i want my honeymoon to be there...cha right selene. at night, the building changes colors. arabs seem to like this color-changing thing. hmmmmm
this is arabia...what did you expect. the covers on their muzzles are so they don't spit in your eye heh
makes me feel like cooking something :)
this is a tiny section....there's a pair of shoes to match every fucking article of clothing you own.
along with an outfit to match your every fucking shoe.
i tried lebanese food for the first time! it was very yummy
teh skyline at night :)
the gateway to the palace hotel...purple!
PART 2- KARACHI, PAKISTAN
sorry...i forgot to invert it...you'll have to crane your neck sideways. anyway, this is the textile section of a typical market in karachi.
food you've never dreamt of before
karachi is famous for its truck art...every truck driver decorates their trucks with great detail, whether it's a passanger bus or a water truck, like this one.
not that this has any cultural significance, but here's me getting ready to go to a mehndi :), which is like a bachelorette party...except cooler
again, crane your neck. this is my great uncle, Jinnah's, mausoleum...he gets one cuz he helped found pakistan :)
one of my aunts has a friend who owns a huge designer textile factory...here's how block prints are made :)
ooooo the colors they use!
apartments from a poorer side of town....they're so interesting though.
my cousin Ravi and i attempting to ride a camel. it was scary but fun
my cousins' beach hut- we stayed there for a day....all the huts are so adorable
the beach! that's the arabian sea, and it's very far out because when we were there, it was low tide. see where the puddles are? that's where the water comes to when it's low tide....this is the arabian sea, btw
my new shell collection from the beach :)
and thats about it! i have a lot more, but they are art photos that i'm saving for devART :) enjoy!!!
it's 1:07 AM new year's day over here in karachi! HAPPY NEW YEARS! WOOOOOO a FRESH START in 2006, yes?
